The VP-798 is an upgrade from the VP-596 Programmer. It is faster and has better stability than the VP-596, other differences are cosmetic.
A  9VDC @ 1A (min.) plugpack  will be required for some devices.Plugpack is supplied,

Support 1.5v Low voltage devices

Auto-run mode starts programming automatically upon detection of chip insertion
